Well, my first field day has come and gone and while I wasn’t as involved as I’d hoped, it was a success for our radio club, and I’m told we have an open invitation to return next year! One of the highlights for me was hanging out at the satellite tent where they were tracking SO-50. We watched with eager anticipation as the satellite tracked up through the Pacific, and then the computer took over the antenna tracking system and followed it across the sky. While no contact was made on this particular pass, I was still excited to see how it all came together. Best laid plans and all… There was also much excitement over the use of ham mesh nodes to tie all the tracking computers together for synchronized logging. Many thanks to WB4SPB for his efforts in that regard. |
